Sharing the gift of dental care with those in need.

Could you imagine sleeping on the sidewalk just to have a dental appointment? That is what many Arkansans do in order to receive the care that they desperately need. Luckily because of ArMOM this care is free. The services are donated from dentists and volunteers across the state and funded by sponsors.

The 2009 ArMOM took place May 8-9, at the Holiday Inn & Northwest Arkansas Convention Center 1500 South 48 Street. in Springdale Arkansas.

Comments about the 2009 Arkansas Mission of Mercy

“Excellent event. I enjoyed helping our own folks. A sincere Thank You for all that organized the weekend. Great Job!”

Dr. Paul Winborn – President, Northwest District Dental Society

“This was my first year. I didn’t work on the planning or organization and it’s a good thing! It could not have been better organized and executed. I plan to go to Monticello next year and I hope I can take my staff. I actually had a different patient experience than I expected. I didn’t have a single patient that was not totally appreciative of the limited amount of care we could give to each patient, even thought most had waited overnight to be seen.”

Dr. Terry Box – President-Elect, Northwest District Dental Society

The Arkansas State Dental Association has completed its third Mission of Mercy and “touched lives one smile at a time” from communities across Arkansas. The ArMOM project was a tremendous success and we are very thankful for all the great people who generously gave of themselves to make it possible. We couldn’t have done it without you!!

ArMOM treated 1,970 patients in desperate need and provided in excess of $822,075.00 in donated dental care. There were 1,480 fillings and 3,015 teeth extracted.

There were 974 volunteers that included 184 dentists, 85 dental hygienists, 228 dental assistants, 12 pharmacists, 40 nurses, and 425 support staff.

Hundreds of volunteers have informed us of their desires to participate in future ArMOMs. We invite you to participate in the 2010 ArMOM on May 20-23 in Monticello next year. ArMOM veterans, like you, are the key to the continued success and growth of the Arkansas Mission of Mercy. You touched many hearts and lives, and I know your hearts and lives were touched in return.

Once again, we deeply appreciate you helping make ArMOM a success.

Thank you!

Dwight Duckworth, DDS
2009 ArMOM Chairman
